Technology has drastically changed the way businesses market their products, services, and brands to customers. In addition to the rise and popularity of social media marketing, the smart phone has provided countless opportunities for companies to promote their brands and acquire new customers. No longer are the days when businesses need to have large advertising budgets for the printing of sales and marketing materials. An easier, more cost-efficient way to promote your business is by creating a QR Code.

What is a QR Code?

A QR Code, short for Quick Response Code, is a 2D barcode that can be scanned with a smart phone or tablet. When someone scans a QR Code with their smart phone, they can be directed to website a url, email, phone number, video, SMS text message, V-card data, or a plain text message. In order for someone to scan a QR Code, they would only need to download a QR Code Reader App on their smartphone.

There are several free QR Code Readers available, including Google Goggles and Microsoft Tag. Once a QR Code Reader is downloaded, you will simply open the app and point your camera towards any QR Code. The reader will recognize the code and display the information.

Where Can QR Codes be Placed?

QR Codes can be placed on business cards, T-shirts, product packaging, storefronts, labels, menus – literally anywhere. I have seen QR Codes on clothing, cereal boxes, and book covers. A QR code is a great way for clients and customers to easily obtain more information about you and your brand.

How to Create a QR Code?

There are several QR Code Generators available online. With Kaywa, creating a QR Code is very easy, and you are able to create up to five free QR codes.

Let me know if you are already using a QR Code for your business. Where are you directing your clients and customers? Has your business benefited from using QR Codes?
